This week I got to see two reunifications. The first was for Hank. Hank was at Best Friends Pet Hotel in Kenwood. They were recommended by one of our volunteers, and it was the best recommendation! They provided such great care. When I picked up Hank, I could tell that he developed such a relationship with the staff and the staff cared so much about him. The love and care they provided for him was so meaningful. I look forward to partnering with them in the future.
I drove him home to see his mama. I am not sure who was more excited. His mom was so excited and said how thankful she was several times. She said she would have lost him if it was not for Paw in Hand. I did not get to see her kids come home and be surprised that Hank was there. I can only imagine the joy of that moment.
The second reunification was Cookie, our dog model. Cookie stayed at Dayton Pet Care.
Again, the care and love shown to Cookie was exceptional. We are so grateful to have people like this to provide that type of care! I got to the meeting destination before Cookie’s mama and got to walk her around in the field and just spend some extra time with her. She is such a sweet girl and we loved getting to enjoy the beautiful weather together. Cookie and her mom were both overjoyed to see each other again!
To me doing this work is about giving people hope. We got to provide extra hope and a reason to live to individuals who did not have other options. The gratitude they have when they say bye is so notable and impressionable. But the joy and excitement when they get to say hi again is even more encouraging and motivating. That is why we do this work. I cannot speak enough about the impact and importance of our mission.
