Linda was done being abused. Her abuser had also vented his frustrations on her dog, Apple. Linda knew that in order to find a safe place to live, she would have to give Apple up. While talking to a sober living manager, Linda learned that Paw in Hand Project helps to temporarily foster animals while their owners are seeking safety. Hopeful, Linda picked up the phone.
Linda was matched with a Connection Specialist, who started looking for places to house Apple. A kennel was contacted and the owner, aware of the mission of Paw in Hand Project, graciously donated her time and a kennel to house Apple. Linda, though fearful of never seeing her beloved companion again, allowed Apple to go to a temporary shelter while she sought treatment in a sober living arrangement.
The Connection Specialist also helped Linda look for pet-friendly housing. The Connection Specialist helped Linda look for jobs in her area.
Even though they have not been completely reunited, Linda and Apple visit often. Linda is celebrating a year of sobriety and just received a promotion at work!
