Position Title: Champion

Department: Paw Connect Program

Reports to: Executive Director

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week

Overview

Duties and Tasks

Requirements

The Champion is essential to providing care to those who are seeking safety through a trauma informed lens. â€‹

  • Meet with your assigned client every week

  • Report to the agency their needs and progress toward stability

  • Be available for a phone call at specified times throughout the week to provide support over the phone

  • Advocate for the client and their pet with other agencies/institutions

  • Attend volunteer orientation

  • Attend trauma informed care training

  • Attend frequent supervision

  • Be willing to pray with clients

  • Complete documentation training

Skills and Abilities

Training and Support

  • Have a passion for people

  • Social service work experience preferred (not required)

  • Degree in social work, counseling, or other social service degree preferred (not required)

  • Be willing to attend training on proper social service provision

  • Have a passion for people

  • Be willing to attend training on proper social service provision

  • Ability to take detailed notes of client interactions

  • Attend the volunteer orientation and trauma informed care training.

  • You will be able to provide frequent feedback to the agency about progress, ask any questions, and ask for assistance

  • Training provided for documentation and use of database

  • Meet with Executive Director or Connection Specialist regularly 

  • Be able to contact Executive Director or Connection Specialist as needed for ongoing support

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a representative of Paw in Hand Project’s vision and mission

  • Responsible for assessing and evaluating the needs of clients and pets

  • Responsible for Identifying services needed and creating a plan to provide that care

  • Responsible for clinical documentation of services provided via telehealth or in person

  • Responsible for advocacy, intervention, support, and safety planning
